That's the vision behind POAP (Proof of Attendance Protocol) — a blockchain-based project that has over 29K issuers and $10 million raised.
How does it work?
You joined the live webinar – get a POAP.
You came to an in-person event – get a POAP.
You finish a course of study – get a POAP.
We met in real life – get a POAP.
So in short, POAPs can measure the micro-interactions that people have with businesses, brands, and other people digitally and in real life. POAP is accessible for everyday users, making it a key player in mainstream NFT adoption.
OK, but how did they become such a sensation? Let’s explore 👇
1️⃣ Leveraging community-driven marketing
POAP was designed to be a community-driven project from the very beginning. Back to 2019, it was created during ETHDenver as a hackathon project to reward fellow hackers for their attendance at one of the most versatile events in the world.
The team actively engaged with the Ethereum community through various channels such as social media, forums, and events. This approach helped to create a strong sense of community ownership and enthusiasm around the project.
2️⃣ Partnering with event organizers
POAP's success is largely due to its ability to provide value to event organizers. By providing them with a simple and effective way to distribute event badges, POAP was able to quickly gain traction, build a reputation as a reliable and useful tool for event organization, as well as it unlocked better NFT adoption.
For instance, POAP collaborated with some fashion shows, such as Metaverse Fashion Week or Vogue World Fall 2022 to engage with their incipient Web3 community.

3️⃣ Leveraging social media and influencers
POAP uses social media to its advantage, particularly Twitter and Reddit. The team regularly posts updates about the project, shares news, runs meme contests, and engages with the community.
Additionally, POAP was able to attract high-profile influencers and advocates in the Web3 community, who helped promote the project and raise awareness among their followers.

4️⃣ Building a user-friendly interface
This January POAP released a new website to remove barriers to adoption and made it easy for new users to get started with the platform.
We see a simple and intuitive user interface, which makes it easy for issuers to learn how to use POAP, and create their own drops.
