This time we wanna talk about DAOs (decentralized autonomous organizations). Almost everyone’s heard of them or even dreamed of creating their own DAO but a few know how to build a successful one.
We asked Margo, DAO Designer at Superdao (a platform to start & run a DAO) to share some growth hacks. Here are top 5 tips from her:
1. Define the utility of your DAO
Create a roadmap aka manifesto where your future contributors can bring more ideas in. Think more in a way of utility, of what you will give to your members. Is it an exclusive community, content, or token gated chat? Define what value stays behind your DAO and transparently showcase all the advantages so people will strive to join your community.
2. Start simple
With the growth of your community, newcomers will generate and bring fresh ideas. So do not spend too much time drawing your roadmap or focusing on a core value — in the Web3 world everything changes way too fast, and it’s better not to stick to something strictly.
3. Create a space to communicate and contribute
Start running a chat group on Telegram or WhatsApp, invite 10-20 people to discuss your manifesto, and ask them to share it on social media, thus bringing more awareness around your DAO.
It’s also important to bring value to the members — you can’t do it in different ways. At Superdao (though it’s not a DAO, but a DAO constructor) they do care about contributing to the community. They have daily communication with customers, a knowledge base, weekly events, and YouTube & Telegram channels for their Russian and English audiences packed with helpful content.
4. Reward contributors
Each member of a community becomes a significant part of the DAO system, and NFT may be a good option you can reward the contributors with. Use the NFT membership system to grant different voting abilities to your DAO members (you can also do it via Superdao).
5. Create a unique NFT collection
Be creative and try to stand out. If you are in the way where you use the NFT approach, the creativity of artworks plays an important role here. Get in touch with artists to make artwork that will be associated with your community so you can stand out and be unique.

1/ Web3 social media app Calaxy has raised $26M to provide social tokens to content creators. They’ll now sell their own crypto tokens to fans, who can redeem them for exclusive content.
2/ Ledger and Cathay Innovation teamed up to unlock the new opportunities of Web3. Their €100M ($110M) early-stage venture fund — Ledger Cathay Capital — is dedicated to helping crypto, DeFi, blockchains, NFTs, DAOs startups.
3/ Jack Dorsey (Block CEO & Twitter co-founder) and Jay-Z (artist & rapper) banged together to launch a Bitcoin academy in a public housing complex. This unlikely duo is going to give back to the community and teach local kids all about crypto.
4/ Salesforce is getting into the crypto game and is testing NFT Cloud — a tool for brands to mint NFTs and sell them.
