🧞The future of onchain messaging with Push Protocol
Finally, good onchain messaging
GM and happy Monday frens🖖
Notifications in Web3 are broken. Some wallets send too many notifications or none at all (I'm looking at you MetaMask). The problem only gets worse if you have multiple accounts in different wallets.
Imagine the same thing with social media - you have different accounts connected to different wallets and you have to log in to each one to get the notifications.
Sounds like hell, doesn't it?
So we talked to Rush Rajat, co-founder of Push Protocol, who wants to make messaging and notifications better in Web3. Even better than in Web2.
So today's topics are:

👨🏻💻**dAGI House** hackathon & hacker house powered by cyber•Fund
AI is becoming the main driver of innovation in Web3. Join us right before EthCC to bring your ideas to life, win a share of the $100K prize pool, and launch your product.
At our hackathon, Web3 builders can create autonomous agents and interfaces for on-chain interactions, develop natural language or voice-enabled intents for wallet tasks, and use AI to enhance security and automate auditing. And that's just a glimpse of what's possible to build at dAGI House.

🤿Deep-dive: Messaging & notifications onchain
Push Protocol is a communication layer for Web3, enabling DApps, protocols, smart contracts, and backends to send communications, including notifications and messages tied to wallet addresses. This allows users to receive notifications about various activities related to their Web3 interactions, such as ENS domain expiration, DeFi loan liquidation warnings, governance proposals, and news from crypto companies.
Push Protocol started in 2020 and has sent over 70 million notifications to over 180,000 subscribers. Recently, they have also launched wallet-to-wallet messaging and token-gated group chats.
Why would users use wallet-to-wallet messaging instead of Telegram or Discord?
Wallet-to-wallet messaging offers unique features like cryptographic security and token-gated group chats. This allows users to join and communicate in groups based on specific token holdings or other on-chain credentials. For example, only Ethereum holders for five years or DAO members can join certain groups, ensuring a secure and exclusive communication environment. This creates a community effect within Web3 that traditional platforms like Telegram and Discord cannot offer. Additionally, Push Protocol supports large groups, up to 25,000 users, which surpasses the capacity of platforms like WhatsApp.
How big is the adoption of these technologies in general, adoption of Web3 messaging and notifications?
Adoption of Web3 messaging and notifications is growing significantly. Push Protocol has integrated with major players like Unstoppable Domains, exposing notifications and group chats to 3.8 million users. Their MetaMask integration allows users to receive notifications without downloading any additional wallets. They work with over 300 protocols, including ShapeShift, Decentraland, Bankless, CoinDesk, and Lens. While 180,000 users may seem small compared to Web2, it is substantial for Web3, and Push Protocol aims to reach a billion users in the future.
How do you see the future of Web3 messaging and the landscape of different protocols?
In the long term, Push Protocol aims to become the standard for Web3 messaging, though in the short to mid-term, multiple protocols may coexist and compete. Web3's interoperable nature allows for parallel innovation, with various projects exploring different approaches. Over time, the community will likely converge on one dominant protocol, while others may find their niches.
What was the main thing you did to build this community?
One favorite use case is Unstoppable Domains, which has formed over 400 communities using token gating via Push Protocol. Another exciting project is Perks, which integrates Push Protocol to build loyalty programs. These implementations showcase the potential of token-gated groups to create secure and exclusive communities based on specific criteria, enhancing the user experience and engagement within Web3 ecosystems.
