📈Top 3 Web3 Trends in 2024
We asked Bogdan Habic, Co-Founder and CTO at Tenderly, an all-in-one Web3 development platform, what will be trending in 2024.
Here's what he thinks:
Ethereum scalability improves
With the Cancun-Deneb upgrade and EIP-4844, also known as Proto-Danksharding, just around the corner, the scalability and efficiency of the Ethereum network will greatly increase.
It’s the first step in increasing the network’s number of transactions per second, allowing for higher traffic. It will also introduce several EIPs to lower the cost of on-chain data storage, optimize block space, and improve the structure of cross-chain bridges.
A new type of transaction known as blob-carrying transactions will enable those key benefits for developers, namely, more efficient data storage and lower gas fees. We can consider them as attachments to Ethereum transactions, which include additional information.
Multichain interoperability
Web3 is already multichain due to EVM interoperability, connectivity, and network effect. We strongly believe that we will have many rollups and appchains that will further contribute to the multichain future through EVM interoperability. This will also positively impact the scalability part of the trilemma without sacrificing the security aspect of it.
RaaS and Appchains
As we witness the greater proliferation of open-source, modular development frameworks and stacks for building blockchain solutions like the OP stack, Arbitrum Orbit, Polygon Superchain, Avalanche Subnets, and Cosmos SDK, combined with the previously mentioned and important Ethereum upgrade, we’re on the side that will see an ever greater number of application-specific chains or rollups springing to action which will further greatly support Ethereum scalability and the overall blockchain ecosystem.
🦾What parts of the stack will be more important in 2024?
Nick Dodson, Co-founder & CEO @ Fuel shares his thoughts on things that will become important in Web3 development this year.
Keynote from Epic Web3 Podcast. Be sure to listen to the full episode!
Interoperability in sequencing is going to be a big thing because that's how people can build networks of chains that are more interesting than just a single roll-up.
Also, everyone's going to have now more infrastructure to support and more states to deal with. And the overhead and the sustainability properties will really start to play in terms of the pressure they're going to put on everyone's system. And so I'd argue that state growth is actually one of the biggest issues of blockchain, existentially speaking.
Introspecting the chain or taking a look at it and indexing it is pretty much most of the work. And if your architecture is not set up to effectively handle giant amounts of RPC and also very intense indexing, then you've got a big problem.

Is modular blockchain design dead?
What's the future of the VMs?
Why make VM register-based instead of intent-based?
What's the biggest problem that modular stack going to face?
