🧑💻 How a blockchain gaming studio found its perfect product-market fit. Community Insights on strategies and steps to take to succeed in Web3.
In its early days, Cometh was an unknown startup with no growth strategy, lack of community engagement and zero waitlisted.
But that was before RZLT, a full-cycle marketing & creative agency that crafts custom-fit strategies for Web3 products, entered to help out. With their assistance, Cometh became a scaled startup with a proven marketing strategy and highly engaged community, including:
Anita Erker, CMO at RZLT, shared with us what helped Cometh to succeed:
1️⃣ Analyzing the way you’re entering the market
Before launching a product, it’s crucial not only to screen the market and define your UVP, but also find the right moment to enter. You can observe externally following the news, reports, influencers, or be involved in the environment analyzing the needs of your community.
2️⃣ Having a flexible launch plan
At Cometh they mixed both approaches (observing externally and being involved) in a 3-stage product launch:
Waitlisting (build and fill the database, create content and community engagement programs, etc.);
Whitelisting or the soft-launch (provide exclusive access to socials, get feedback from users and implement it, create focus groups);
Launch stage (work on partnerships and collaborations opportunities to spread the word).
3️⃣ Sustaining PMF
To sustain the PMF that you found, think of several assets: involvement, proactivity & experimentation, and mindset.
— Involvement
It includes being in the community market, open to feedback (especially negative one) and proud of the positive ones. You can run the Sean Ellis test to find out if the existing PMF is good and working for you.
How: Ask the community the following question: if they would no longer be able to use your product, how would they feel?
Very disappointed;
Somewhat disappointed;
Not disappointed at all.
If the majority of answers are “very disappointed”, you are on the right path. Find your way to run that test.
— Proactivity & experimentation
You need to constantly monitor potential frictions to improve your product, collaborations, and what you do to stay in trend. Don’t forget to run experiments with the help of new initiatives.
— Mindset
The way you think is a key to your success. Just look at this tweet:
As Web3 is more focused on the “we” than the “me”, it’s important to add value to the whole community. Pay attention to the need to find the brand’s relevance by combining the culture, purpose, and society. Users love to see the experience and to be part of the changes that you make.
These are some of the highlights Anita put together during the virtual meetup on how to find PMF in Web3. For even more useful insights, watch the full presentation with the Epic Web3 subscription.
